Firefighters battle large fires at a Bronx deli and other neighboring businesses.

reports from KINGSBRIDGE, The Bronx. A person was hurt in a big fire that raged across numerous Bronx businesses.

The five-alarm fire looks to have begun at 3:30 a.m. at the Cold Cut City Bunny Deli, according to officials. According to witnesses in the area, the fire started in the kitchen at the back of the deli.

Authorities say five other businesses on West 231st Street have suffered fire or water damage.

A nearby barbershop, seafood market, butcher market, florist, and cleaning service appear to have been impacted.

"They are shocked that their company is in this condition."I've basically been to all of them," one man stated.

The FDNY received reports of smoke from the fire near Kingsbridge and Riverdale. According to officials, the injured civilian, who was in the houses behind the stores, most certainly suffered from smoke inhalation.

"I saw many firefighters and awoke to smoke." Things like this don't happen in my neighborhood, so I was taken aback. These companies have been around for over 30 years and such. "These people are nice," remarked one eyewitness, Miguel.

As the FDNY reacted to the fire, all 1 trains were temporarily bypassing 231st and 238th Streets in both directions.

According to one witness, a party with live musicians took place at the deli Tuesday evening, and they hope the festivities did not spark the fire.
