King Charles arrives at the hospital for prostate surgery

The 75-year-old king underwent surgery at the London Clinic, where the Princess of Wales is recovering from abdominal surgery.

The king Charles photographed arriving with his wife, Queen Camilla, at the private London Clinic Hospital in west London, where Kate, Princess of Wales, wife of Prince William, son of the king and heir to the British throne, is also receiving treatment after undergoing abdominal surgery last week.

A royal source confirmed that Charles visited Kate before receiving treatment.

For its part, Buckingham Palace said on Friday that the King of Britain is happy that news of his treatment for prostate enlargement enhances public awareness of this health problem, stressing that the King entered the hospital to receive the scheduled treatment.

The palace announced in a statement: “The King Charles would like to thank all those who sent their well wishes over the past week and is pleased to know that his diagnosis has a positive impact on public health awareness.”

Publicity around the king's surgery is seen as an opportunity to encourage other men to get their prostate checked in line with public health advice. The palace said the Charles king sought treatment “like thousands of men every year.”

Last week, Buckingham Palace announced that king Charles would need a "corrective procedure" to treat a benign condition common among men over the age of 50.

Queen Camilla previously reported that Charles was "doing well" and "looking forward to returning to work" after briefly postponing his public engagements to allow time to recover.

Members of the British royal family usually do not reveal details of their health conditions, as they are private matters. However, Charles was keen to share details of his condition to encourage men suffering from symptoms of this disease to undergo a medical examination.

Kate, Princess of Wales (42 years old), is still recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery to treat a condition whose nature has not been revealed, but it is not cancerous.

In this context, Sarah Ferguson (64 years old), Duchess of York, ex-wife of Prince Andrew, Charles' younger brother, said on Monday that she was in a state of shock after being diagnosed with an aggressive type of skin cancer.
