Netanyahu: Hamas made “demands that we will not accept.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Monday that Hamas had made “demands that we will not accept” regarding the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu stressed that the conditions "should be similar to the previous agreement," which witnessed the exchange of a percentage of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners during the truce last November, according to what was reported by the Likud Party, which he leads.

Regional and international powers are working to formulate an agreement to stop the war in Gaza. For weeks, a deal was made to exchange hostages with Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.

The deal, which is being talked about in the media, includes the release of children, women, the elderly, and wounded Israelis detained by Hamas in exchange for the release of large numbers of Palestinian prisoners and the entry of aid.

Last Wednesday, Netanyahu said that a “real effort” was being made to return the hostages held in Gaza, but he indicated that it was too early to talk about how such a step would be implemented.

He was the Minister of National Security in the Israeli government. Itamar Ben Gvir Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich threatened to dismantle the government and withdraw from it if a final ceasefire was reached in the Gaza Strip.

Ben Gvir said, "Stopping the war means dissolving the government," after talking about the imminent reaching of an agreement to extend the ceasefire in exchange for the release of more kidnapped people every day.

On the other hand, he said,Today, addressing the leaders and soldiers of the 8104th Battalion at the Armored Corps base in Latron:

  • I told your leaders that a few days ago I received a hat with two words written on it: “Total Victory.” It is the bottom line of our policy, which is a complete victory over Hamas.

  • A complete victory is necessary because it guarantees Israel's security, and it constitutes the first way in which we can ensure the conclusion of more historic peace agreements, which are knocking on our doors.

  • A complete victory would deal the final blow to the axis of evil that includes Iran, Hezbollah, and, of course, the Houthisagitation. Therefore, complete victory is indispensable, and just imagine what would happen if complete victory was not achieved, as the evacuated residents would not return, and the next massacre would be just a matter of time and would come and go. Iran, Hezbollah, and others are here to destroy the Middle East.

  • We are on our way to achieving complete victory, and I am telling you that we are committed to that and we will not give up on that.

  • We won't finish this war without achieving the goal of achieving complete victory, which will restore security to both the southern and northern regions.
