After trying many apps and other digital means for romantic encounters, Katya was unable to find what she wanted. So the woman, descended from California The 43-year-old is a trainer specializing in online love.

This trainer provides answers to several questions, including: What is the most appropriate self-description that a person can adopt on his social media pages? What words and images does it depend on? What messages should be sent?

What does a person write after dating? How do you show interest in someone without seeming attached to them? What is the best thing to do if the person he is dating for the first time does not contact him?

Katya, who preferred not to mention her surname, said in a funny tone, “It's exhausting!” She pointed out that she was “shocked” by the actions and things she encountered, such as men suddenly disappearing or her having to answer standard questions that spread on applications.

She has been communicating with a dating coach for several months. Although social media platforms do not provide data on their numbers, these trainers are very active online, in light of the social platforms’ focus on the subject of personal development.

“The coach helped me understand the modern definition of an idiot,” Katya admits with a laugh, referring to conversations with the coach that she describes as “the most important and deepest conversation I have ever had about my emotional life, as we discussed my needs and standards.”

The important thing for Katya remains the practical aspect of the issue, and she says, “The trainer helped me with the details of daily life and in putting things into perspective.” She says that she works with a love mentor like a sports coach.

"A new way to help people"

Sabrina Zohar, who has about 450,000 users on Instagram and about 800,000 followers on TikTok, does not describe herself as an influencer or a therapist. After dreaming of becoming an actress, she studied psychology but did not obtain a degree in this field. She then specialized in commerce.

She launched an audio blog (podcast) and videos about love after experiencing a difficult romantic relationship.

She says about her, “I was that anxious girl who couldn’t sleep at night waiting for a message” from her lover, explaining how she reconciles what she knows about the human mind and her personal experience to provide comfort to her clients, whom she receives in her living room inside her house in Southern California.

She added, "I collected all the information I know and created a new way to help people by giving them practical tools and solutions, not just nice words."

Sabrina helps her clients who are facing difficulties in their romantic relationships and teaches them how to manage messages well and use dating applications because she considers online dating to be similar to the “Wild West.”

Zohar says she runs about fifteen sessions a week. Most of her clients, who are more women than men, are between 27 and 44 years old, and they pay between $35 for a quick consultation and $6,600 for unlimited follow-up.

From grandfather's advice to "professional skills"

Sociologist and romantic relationship specialist Amanda Miller is not surprised by the success achieved by these coaches, due to “the coincidence of two phenomena: the spread of dating applications and the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused the cessation of social interactions.”

She believes that those with means are “becoming more comfortable” with online services, noting a connection with “the American model of efficiency and capitalism.”

She says, "Does hiring a coach dispel the romantic aspect of the issue? Not necessarily. In the past, our grandparents or friends would provide this type of advice, but today we consider that whoever gives it has a set of professional skills."

In addition, because of this professional and fast aspect, James, who did not want to mention his surname, decided to contact a “dating coach” to ensure that he was in a “serious romantic relationship.

The 54-year-old single man who runs a startup in California explains that the coach has most of the information that a therapist has, but her approach to things is more focused on “how to apply the advice in daily life immediately.”

He also points out that the trainer helped him, within a few months, control his anxiety and strengthen his confidence in the increasingly complex issue of dating.
